Our Team
Grace Lin, Owner and Head Trainer
CrossFit Level 3 Trainer, CrossFit Gymnastics, USA Weightlifting Sports Performance, FreeStyle Movement
Grace found CrossFit in 2012 and joined CFCH in 2013. She has been involved in sports from a young age, including softball, basketball, track, and golf. During college, she stayed active by participating in various intramural sports. In her senior year, she competed and placed 3rd in her first half marathon. She has a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Missouri and a Master's in BioEngineering from Rice University.
Within a few months of joining CFCH, Grace found herself drawn to coaching and teaching people about holistic fitness and nutrition. She spends much (probably too much) of her free time nerding out on weightlifting and gymnastic drills, mobility, nutrition and anything health related. She is on the endless pursuit to challenge and inspire people to become the best version of themselves.
Logan Clarke, Owner and Trainer
CrossFit Level 2 Trainer, CrossFit Masters, CrossFit Gymnastics, USA Weightlifting Sports Performance, CrossFit Aerobic Endurance
Logan, a former disgruntled investment banker and sporting goods retailer, found CrossFit in early 2009. With some friends, he opened a CrossFit affiliate in 2011. Logan has coached everything from first time exercisers to multi-year CrossFit Games athletes. There isn’t much he hasn’t seen or done in CrossFit.
A native Houstonian and resident of nearby Southside Place, Logan believes it is very important to understand the difference between CrossFit as a fitness methodology and CrossFit as a sport. He loves both sides of CrossFit and can help you with whatever your personal fitness goals are.
Julia Avery, Trainer
CrossFit Level 2 Trainer, Power Monkey Fitness Camp, Catalyst Athletics Level 1 Seminar
Julia grew up in Houston, attended Duke University to pursue a degree in Economics, and after graduation made her way to NYC for an Investor Relations job. Having done gymnastics as a kid, she always had a passion for fitness, but it wasn’t until she started doing CrossFit in 2012 that she really considered making it her career. What started out as a personal blog to share her workouts and recipes soon led her to an instructor position at a HIIT studio in NYC. In 2013, after about 6 months of straddling both the corporate and fitness worlds, she decided to take the leap and work in fitness full time. In 2016, Julia moved to the Cayman Islands, where she spent 3 years coaching, personal training, and running a HIIT program at a CrossFit gym. She is now back in Houston and has started a coaching business to help others that want to turn their love of fitness into a career. Julia loves seeing people achieve things they didn’t think were possible before walking into the gym. She is forever impressed by and grateful for clients' willingness to be vulnerable in an environment that can be new and intimidating.
Emily Steinman, Trainer
CrossFit Level 2 Trainer
From a young age, Emily has been fascinated by the human body and passionate about health and fitness. She decided to turn that fascination into a career by moving from her home town of Sant Antonio to Houston to study Biology at the University of Houston. While in school, Emily started CrossFit in October 2016 and immediately fell in love with the sport. Thanks to CrossFit, she realized that her true goals and passions were more in line with fitness and nutrition and switched her studies to Kinesiology.
When Emily isn’t training, coaching, or studying, she is busy working as a chiropractic assistant and being a mom to her son and two dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two partners, dancing, and cooking.
Cameron Miller, Trainer
CrossFit Level 2 Trainer
Cameron took an interest to sports and fitness at a young age. He later went on to pursue a degree in exercise physiology and played baseball while attending Baylor University. During his time at Baylor he worked as a student assistant strength and condition coach for the Baylor Basketball team, where he aided in coaching and program analysis.
When Cameron moved back to Houston the “bro gym” he used to attend didn’t cut it anymore. He missed the team environment and the push that college athletics provided. That’s when he joined CFCH. He connected with the environment and community that CrossFit and especially CFCH takes pride in. Cameron is passionate about improving the health and overall well being of others, and being able to watch members improve and reach their fitness goals.
Kasie Tedrick, Trainer
CrossFit Level 3 Trainer, USAW L2, CSCS
Kasie stumbled upon CrossFit in 2012 as a way to stay in shape for college Rugby. Having always participated in sports from a young age, the CrossFit style of training was a natural fit. Kasie started coaching Olympic Weightlifting and CrossFit while finishing her bachelors in Kinesiology at Texas A&M University. She’s been personal training, instructing and coaching ever since.
When she’s not coaching, she works full time as a sports massage therapist, specializing in pain, injury and rehab. She also teaches Kinesiology at a local massage school. Through both her manual therapies, teaching and coaching, Kasie’s passion is to help others get out of pain and live a long and healthy life
Matt Escamilla, Trainer
CrossFit Level 2 Trainer
After saying he would never jump in on the CrossFit craze (let alone become a CrossFit trainer years later), Matt took a chance with a free CrossFit workout in 2014 and hasn’t regretted it since.
Prior to that, Matt spent years strength training at a global gym. Looking for a way to supplement that with something other than monotonous cardio, he decided to venture out which led him to take a chance on that free CrossFit class. Finding himself spending more time helping others before and after his own workouts, he learned that he enjoyed helping others reach their goals much more than his own.
“There is such a joy in seeing others become more confident in themselves physically but much more joy with the mental confidence that accompanies it.”
Working in the mental health field, he finds that gaining mental confidence via physical activity so rewarding.
If Matt is not working, coaching, or working out, he is driving his son around to sports practices, going on family bike rides, or some kind of shenanigan. He has a hard time keeping still at times.
