One of the coolest things that Phil and I have had the chance to do is attend the CrossFit Games (the picture was taken there last year with the founder of CrossFit, Coach Glassman). We were able to travel to Carson, CA in 2011 and again in 2012 to watch the fittest people on the planet compete for the title of the "Fittest on Earth." A new sponsorship from Reebok has brought a $250,000 purse for the top male and top female winners and an incredible amount of exposure on ESPN2. While most of us are not CrossFitting so that we can compete in the Olympics of CrossFit, it's pretty inspirational and amazing to watch these athletes in action. Just like our WODs at CFCH, athletes do not know their workouts ahead of time when in competition. This year, they were surprised with the announcement that competition would begin 2 days early with a triathalon through Camp Pendelton Marine Corps base, they swung sledge hammers at giant hunks of metal, along with some of the skills that we have performed in our gym recently: double unders, med ball work, pull ups and thrusters.
I say all of this to tell you that the 2012 CrossFit Games will air on ESPN2 starting tomorrow and if you haven't seen the best in the world compete, you have to check this out. Here's a link to the schedule: CrossFit Games Schedule.
